This, my second issue of the Wilmington City Directory, I trust will be found more full and complete than its predeces sor. The increase in the number of names contained in the work clearly indicates that there has been a notable increase in the population of the city. The Directory contains 4860 names, which multiplied by four, the usual ratio, would give Wilmington a population of an increase of 5974 over the United States Census of 1870, and an increase of over the last estimate as calculated by the Directory.
